As the weather cools down in the Northern hemisphere, it’s certainly heating up in the South. Here is our list of top 5 secret beach locations you must visit in your lifetime.

  1. El Nido, Palawan, Philippines

Located in the Philipinnes, El Nido is home to over 50 white sand beaches resembling a tropical dreamland. Discovered in 1979 after a sea accident, the area is surrounded by limestone cliffs that outline jade coloured waters and some of the world's whitest beaches. Home to hundreds of endangered species including turtles, seals and birds, El Nido remains a virtually untouched piece of paradise, making it our ultimate secret beach location.

  1. Playa Del Amor, Mexico

If this beach isn’t a secret, we don’t know what is! Playa del Amor, better known as “The Hidden Beach” can be found near the Marieta Islands, west of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It is said that the hole was the result of deliberate bombings in the time when the islands were used as military testing sites. Make sure to plan ahead - the beach is only accessible during low tide through a small tunnel!

  1. Turquoise Bay, Western Australia

It’s hard to pin down just one beach in Australia that is ‘the best’, because let’s face it, they are all pretty impressive...but we think this dreamy location will not disappoint! With miles of pristine white beaches and, you guessed it, turquoise coloured waters, this is one for the bucket list. With fantastic coral and an abundance of sea-life as well, this beach is a must. Grab your snorkel, some flippers, a bottle of champagne and get going!

  1. Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, Big Island Hawaii

Black sand...sounds dirty, right? Wrong! Punalu’u has to be seen to be believed - the black colour is the result of lava flowing into the ocean, which cools as it reaches the water. While the stark contrast of black sand and crystal clear water is something else, the sight of endangered hawksbill and green turtles definitely takes the cake.

  1. Navagio Beach, Greece

Dreaming of your Greek Island getaway, but don’t know where to start? Navagio is where it’s at. Navagio Beach, or “Smugglers Cove” is located on the coast of Zakynthos in the Ionian Islands of Greece. This particular spot is famed for it’s shipwreck, which was rumoured to have been a smuggler’s ship. Couple that with limestone cliffs, white sand beaches and some seriously blue water, and it’s hard to believe more people don’t know about this spot. The area is also known for it’s spectacular BASE jumping...if you’re into that.
